What does it mean to worship in "spirit" and in "truth"? Spirit is central part of our being. Our spirit is the part of us that can communicate with God. Deep inside us, where our most private thoughts exist, that's our spirit. God talks to our spirit sometimes in His "still, small voice." And we pray to Him from our spirit. When we worship God in "spirit," we worship from the deepest part of our being. We give him who we truly are. To worship God in spirit is to worship from the very depth of your being. It's not surface at all. It's not you putting on a show for others. No, in spirit means you're worshiping God, even if you're quiet, concentrated, and might look like you're just thinking. To worship in "truth" means that you're worshiping God from the real you. You're not lying to Him about anything. You're not just "putting on a good face." You're not faking Him out or posing. You're sinking deep down to the most bedrock part of your soul, seeing what's there, and bringing that to him. You're being utterly honest with God in all your worship. No lies. No tricks. The true you. That's what it means to worship "in spirit and truth." The real you has come to church or your bedroom or wherever you are, and you're going to meet with the living God there. You're going to let Him in on your deepest secrets, tell Him your most heartfelt feelings. Worship God in spirit and in truth today. ©2008 YouthQuiz.com This daily devotional brought to you by www.youthquiz.com You may sign up for it there to receive it in your e-mail free of charge by clicking here.
